Hello all
Shaun here new to the site searching for HELP!!!! I have a very fun problem (not) the dealer cant figure it out cause it only happens when its cold. so I thought I would try here. thanks for having me!!!

So what I have is a 2006 liberty 6spd manual 3.7 L and here is my problem when its cold like in teens cold with defrost, defrost floor, floor selected the engine surges up to 12-14 hundred rpm when compressor kicks on and drops to 3 to 4 hundred rpm when the compressor kicks off, and sometimes stalls.
It does not do this with the vent or vent floor selected. When we took it to the dealer it was barely showing symptoms, they performed an engine performance update to the computer said that fixed it. well a week later when the temp dipped down again it is still surging. HELP!!!!!

Do you hear anything like rattling or knocking coming from the compressor or compressor clutch?

Sorry no ideas but here's a tip. Sometimes what I would do is take a video or photos of the problem so just in case the problem didn't show up at the dealer service center, I can show them.

Hi no there is no rattling or knocking noise from the compressor it runs fine with the outside temp warm the symptoms only happen when its cold out teens or low twenties.
question where do the vacuum lines from the heater controls go through the firewall? pass or drivers side?
thanks for your help.

P.S. I cant video it cause its getting warmer if I get a cold day I will try and catch it on my phone, thanks

Have your compressor line pressure tested, see what the shop says, low coolant in the line can cause the compressor or compressor clutch to bind as it carries lubricants in it
