Ok, I'm an idiot! This afternoon while trying to jack up vehicle to remove the right rear tire, I obviously picked the completely wrong spot to raise the car from! The jack is now stuck under the vehicle and I am trying to figure out how to get it out.

Not sure if i have done any damage, but it looks like the head of the jack is stuck in this spot where the rear lower control arm attaches to the rear axle. I have attached a picture so everyone can see what a mess I have made here.

Am I going to have to disconnect the rear lower control arm to get the jack out? If so, what's the best way to do so.

Any suggestions would be great and please, I know this was a stupid move, so I just need to figure out how to rectify it. Thanks in advance!

Can you get another jack and jack it by the axle, so it'll lift that one off the floor and maybe it'll drop out?

Or at least get the pressure off it so you can whack it loose with a bfh?

Looks like you'll have to remove the shock . Use another jack put the frame on jack stands lower the rear end and then remove the shock it maybe damage and have to be replaced.

The jack says GM Goodwrench but I'm thinking it was actually made by the Petard Co.

(Put me down as being in the "hoist it and smack it" category.) ;)

Well, I have tried smacking it with a big hammer but it won't come loose. The head of the jack will wiggle around but not come down past the lower control arm.

The jeep is currently sitting on the ground, the jack has been decompressed and it isn't holding up any weight, the head is just wedged in there!

Porkchop - it has not damaged the rear shock, it is not on that bracket.

Do you think that jacking up the car from the rear diff would help at all? Seems like it's stuck in there pretty good!

I might try back it slowly down the driveway to articulate the rear suspension slightly and see if that might provide a slight angle change and let it come out. This *****!

Success! Big fat hammer wins! I was able to take all the pressure out of the jack and lock it in an almost folded position then whacked it loose. No damage to the LCA.

Thanks for all the advice. Now back to my original job of just trying to take the rear tire off so I can clean a rusty lug and put a new wheel nut on!

You're welcome.

Rear jacking point is on the axle tube, according to my manual.

This might be the funnest thing I have read this week. Would like to have seen your face when you saw what was going on there!
