So, I wanna get a frankenlift but my parents say no even though I would be paying for it completely, they say no because it will wear out my jeep which already has 91k on it. So if you can give me some reasons that I can use to try to convince them to let me get one. Thanks!

Jeez, 91k already?

I personally wouldn't even attempt to argue with them, or try to convince them. Well not at 16, actually. 18 gives you a little more wiggle room.

Give it a few more years and wait. Heck by then even if you do wait you could go nuts with mods with the additional savings.

But if you must, let them know that the suspension will be brand new... so there's nothing really to "wear out" in that regard at least. Mention that it will be much cooler? That may not even be the true excuse... they might be concerned with you flipping the thing over.

It wouldn't wear out your Jeep any faster, it would if you didn't get your alignment.

Show them a few threads and testimony about the Frankie lift on here.....

Do we need stronger plans???;)

you are not arguing with fact only with "I want"
You will be better served with the argument that the suspension is shot
if you are running OE struts and shocks at 90K+ then that is dangerous and could hurt you stopping distance
the OE coils are also not up to par after maybe 50K so they need replacing

now avoid the frankie as it add extras and most shops will argue for your parents
telling you that the spacers that are there will cause problems
how ever if you are replacing springs with springs and struts/shocks with the same
just a better quality no one can argue
replace your worn out suspension with all new Old Man Emu coils and shocks/struts
and be done
with this you can run 245/75's on OE wheels

Your sig says you are 16 so I am guessing you live with your parents and they either paid for your jeep or helped you pay for it and also the insurance. Or they co-signed the loan. If any of those things apply, then they have a say in the jeep. Even if none of these things apply then you are still living under their roof and at 16 they are just looking out for you as they should.

That said you are using the wrong word "FRANKENLIFT" with your parents.

If you need springs and shocks, you need OME springs and Rancho's.

One last thing to always remember. You have an off road capable Jeep and not a car so do not drive it like a car (read high speed). Get more driving experience. Take an off road driving lesson with a local club or something. Even at my age I take an occasional drivers safety course as I have a CDL.

What everybody else has already mentioned!;)
But, ask them to sit down and have a look at this forum and L.O.S.T.
and ask them to read all the information about the fact that your
KJ's suspension at 91K is already worn out and it really needs replacing!
Also, lets say you change their mind and you do get a Frankenlift.
Are you going to install the lift yourself? Or are you going to bring it
to a shop to have it done?
I know you are 16 years of age, are you done with high school or
still in school?
If you are in school, are you taking any shop classes like Automotive
shop?
If you are, you could use this lift kit install as your final shop
project that goes towards your overall grade!

I've been working on cars since age 7!
Oil changes, radiator flushes.
Did all the servicing on that Green Mini you see in my Avatar when
my Dad bought it new in 1976. Now it's mine!
http://vegetable09.piczo.com/
(My wife Jen's site. More Mini pictures there.)

In high school when I was 16 years old, I restored a 1967 Mercury
Monterey convertible. GT 390 c.i.d. engine with roughly 425 HP.
Stage 3 shift kit in a tweaked C-6 automatic transmission.
Front disc brake conversion. Installed a new top, etc.
By the time I was 18 I had a done 1967 Oldsmobile Delta 88 2 door
Holiday Coupe with a stupid FAST 425 Super Rocket with three on
the tree!

So yeah, ask your folks to check out these forums and they can
read for themselves that it's not just a bunch of young guy's with
modified Jeep Liberty's; but instead folks of all ages, professions,
and from all around the world who have a common interest in the
vehicles that offer sound advice and responsible attitudes!

Either that or send us a couple of Voodoo dolls that look like mom
and dad and some of us can go to work on them for you!:D:D:D
J/K!;)

Good luck, and remember...
Good things come to those who wait!
I waited two years and five months before I got my lift kit, and
I'm still waiting for it to arrive!
This week I hope!

Cheers

Ry'

Yes, I do live with my parents, they paid for my jeep and pay the insurance. So, they have a major say, but I'm 17 now I need to change that. I would be installing the lift my self, I do take shop classes at school but I also have a shop here at home that I'd be doing it in mainly because I do not trust some of the ignorant students in my classes. However, the main reasons I want the lift are, 1. So I can fit bigger tires and have a better looking stance, 2. Because I will be taking my senior pictures this fall for school and I want to take some with my rig but I want it to look beasty not so much like a grocery getter, and 3. Because we do a lot of hunting in the Ozark Mountains here in Arkansas. Its very rocky through the trails and stuff there and I want to have a more usable vehicle.

Looks like you're kinda stuck.....unless you show them how sagged out yours is compared to a newer one....

Other than that, you're kinda stuck.....:(

You could get a part time job and pay for the lift yourself...might as well get use to the real world since you will be getting out into it soon. I bought my own car and paid my own insurance when I was 16, didn't hurt me a bit.;)

I do have a job and told above that I would be paying for the lift myself. I bought my first vehicle, a 1990 Chevy Silverado C1500. My Dad took it and they bought me a KJ so I paid $2300 of the $9,400 my KJ cost. But they still own it.

I feel for ya!
If you have to wait, you have to wait!
Remember what I mentioned earlier...
Good things come to those who wait!
But regardless, show your parents the thread about the suspension hight comparison that was just started and if if it's still a no go, the just go out and have a good time off road with your stock Liberty.
Just like Jen and I did for the last two years and five months!
If you break something off road, maybe that might help change their mind.

I guess I was lucky growing up. My parents were and are still awesome!
To this day my pa helps me with trickey machining projects and uses his aerospace engineering and his journeyman tool and die expertice.

Hang in there bud!

Good luck with your pursuit in the fine art of persuading the parental units to see and do things your way!;)

Cheers

maybe I was not clear enough
use it as a safety issue thing
have a shop tell them that the struts are bad ,which with out even seeing it if you have 90K miles on it and the OE struts still on then they are bad
show them the rake to the front
this is caused by the spring sag which means that they are bad
bad parts should be replaced or bad things can happen

well i had a good talk with mom tonight about the lift, and explained that i really needed it as much as i wanted it. i told her how living on an old gravel filled with pot holes wasn't exactly what the liberty was made for that it was simply breaking down and wearing out my stock suspension. i said i need something stronger and stiffer to handle the washboard bumps. but that also i would be able to fit a little bit bigger tire that is more common and cheaper to buy (245/75/16) i consider it common if wal mart carries it in stock. and that it would give me a little bit better stance and make my jeep look better for my senior pictures. her main concern was that it would cause the center of gravity to be higher and i'd be more likely to flip, and i told her it would be higher but i will be able to fit wider tires allowing for a wider stance and more balance than even at stock height (wether thats true or not it made her feel better). and the biggest seller was that i told her i could install it myself with a little help from my brother. her only conditions really were that i'd have to wait until i had saved all the money and redo this conversation and to wait until we had the drive fixed to our shop so that i could pull our boat out of the shop and park it on gravel instead of in the mud. so things are looking pretty good just have to be patient like ryan said and yeah so thanks everybody for all the advice hope you're not **** about punctuation and nice writing and all cuz this post isn't written very well
