I'm doing a motor swap 2005 Jeep Liberty Shell pulled motor from an 07 dropped ****** and transfer case bolted it all together then stabbed it back in. Now I'm trying to use the intake manifold and throttle off of the original 05 since it's cable driven will that work with the 07 motor? And I'm also trying use the 05 wiring loom that's hooks up to the manifold. Is this going to work? Do I need to change the ECU for the newer motor?
Basically need to know what all electrical I need to change over. Please thank you. I have 6 days to get this done and vehicle out of my driveway or I get evicted so any help is appreciated thank you

You should be gold - 05 and up use the same lower end stuff - early issues with reluctor wheel on the crank and various sensors.

Make sure to swap your sensors from the 05 engine to the 07. Since you want to eliminate the 07 intake and drive by wire, you do not want to swap the ecu.

Think of it like this - It’ll want all the 05 goodies that are on your bad engine. Cam, Crank, Manifold, Map sensor, Wiring, injectors (questionable on this) coolant sensors. Make sure to change your thermostat (with a genuine mopar, oriented correctly).

Nice project!

I have too change out those things I cannot just put the motor in with old manifold and hook it up.?
You stated you want to use the 05 harness. I have no idea if there are differences in the sensors between those 2 years. I suggested swapping them - for me, i would - as I ‘knew’ my sensors were good. The donor engine, you have no idea unless you heard the engine run before buying it.

Try it and see!

Sounds like a good plan.
- i dont know if the manifold is the same 05 and 07. With the ‘drive by wire’ 07 throttle body, you may need additional work inside the jeep to swap out the accelerator pedal. Wiring most likely not present in the 05. I like your idea to keep the cable setup for the 05. Maybe just the throttle body swap will work. I’ve never seen a drive by wire.

The 07 and 08 had the same setup under the hood, even though the body style changed between years (mine’s and 08). If you keep the old 05 cable-driven throttle body, you will need to keep the 05 computer as well, and may need to make an adapter on the 07 engine’s intake manifold to hold the cables where they need to be, or swap back on your 05 intake manifold. I’m thinking you’re correct to use as much of the 05’s electrical bits as you can. If you switch to the 07 computer when the rest of your Jeep is an 05 I am not sure what other issues that could introduce. Keeping it simple is the way to go.
