Oops! I meant, I got a new-used Jeep '04 Liberty and I'm loving it. I traded in a used up Subaru Legacy SUS with very questionable awd (we suffered through approximately 110" of snow last winter) and I'm not looking back.
The dealer allowed the wife and I to drive it around all day. We used it exactly how I will on a normal basis (I was a tad worried about the mpg - I know its dumb when considering a serious 4wd but...) and the sweet-sweet beastie sealed the deal at 19.8 - 20 mpg. That amazing performance with A/C running the entire time as we ran about hilly back roads that twist and turn like a pretzel. We kept track of the general speed and less than 1/4 of the miles were driven at speeds above 50 mph. We went through 3 small towns, got stuck behind farm equipment and saw the evil red of several stop lights.
I had an old, long-bed Comanche (at least I think they called it long-bed) as a work truck ages ago, I hated to part with it but at 240,000 it simply gave up the ghost. I had no idea how much I missed that old companion until today.
BTW, I'm a bran-spank'n new member here, but I did spend many hours reading through this forum. Ya'll unknown to you at the time, helped me become a very happy man. Thanks for the plethora of excellent information and informed opinion...there's nothing so convincing as solid experience.
I'll post proper pics later.
