high mileage sand dune riding

Hi ya'll, i had a question for you about high mileage riding in the sand dunes of silver lake. I have a 2002 liberty limited with 171,500, same trans newer motor and i was wondering if it would be safe to ride the dunes with it. ive never really beat the crap out of the transmission and it shifts normal for high mileage. i wasnt planning on doing many hills or much of anything really, just a little adventure time on the flats and a few "bunny" hills. to be safe, am i better off just riding shotgun with my buddies that are leaving from the same place as me and just renting a quad or do ya'll think my liberty can handle it? Some things that might help you help me are, ill be 200 miles from home, my liberty doesnt like cold weather and i dont have much money set aside for a parts if i break anything major. You shouldn't really have to drive that hard up there if your smart about what you do. There is good amount of "bunny hills" and flats up there. I will be going up there in two weeks.

I was the same as you a few weeks ago. I went wheeling anyway and what do you know... My CV joint was destroyed and I pushed my tire off the bead by the end of it. Luckily I had some money set aside to fix things, but if I hadn't, I would be sorry right now. Keep in mind I did stupid stuff that I shouldn't have attempted, if you are smart, you shouldn't break anything, but you never know.

Yup, we make sure our shit is in order 100% and have a substantial amount of cash money available for an emergency or Jeep repairs if necessary.
Especially when we're south of the border.

Too many people only raise the hood or look underneath after they hear strange noises
Mine with 168,000 miles is ready to go on a 1000 mile trip or to the dunes in a moments notice. But then I am sort of **** and check everything at least weekly.

At silver lake it just depends on how you want to ride the dunes. You can take it easy like your riding the back roads or you can go jump test hill!!!! I have seen some crazy things out there before. If a Subaru can take silver I don’t think you will have a problem.

Oh I'd trust mine on a 1000 mile trip anyway, i know a lot about any mustang and can fix most anything on one I just don't know much about libertys and what I learn comes from you guys. I wasn't planning on beating the hell out of it by any means, just go and have fun. It's in very good shape, well oiled and I never drive like a maniac to begin with. Ive got sine cash set aside now (forgot about pay day friday) so if anything breaks i should be ok. But thanks for the info guys, I'll let you know how it goes
