Howdy! I recently purchased an 03 Libby and I'm looking to replace the hood lifts, and back glass lifts as well actually. I've checked around some on prices but before I actually buy anything I was wondering if any brand in particular would be more likely to hold up? I settled for RWD because of lack of availability so I'd like to get this jeep fixed up to feel better about giving up my Z71.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, get the Monroes, especially for the rear glass. The struts you get at Autozone or Orielly's are OK for the hood, but they are way too stiff for the rear glass and won't automatically 'lift' the glass. The Monroes work beautifully, they aren't too stiff and the glass will raise itself once the latch is released.

Not seeing the Monroe's for the hood on Rock Auto but I'll check around. All else fails I'll see about a discount at Autozone. Thanks again!

Hmm you're right. Looks like they're no longer available. I see the glass...that's it.

Actually I found it. But not listed under the Liberty. I remember specifically they were one part # apart...

More Information for MONROE 901513

Confirmed that this is the part:

I used strong arm supports. Made in USA :) Work great.

Wish I had found those before ordering my spiffy chinese ones.

OTOH, looking at the pictures of the Strong Arm ones, they look eerily like the chinese ones. I wonder if the chinese are THAT good at copying or if those are really US made.

The former. Ever see their copies of Apple chargers and headphones?

China is very good at copying the looks of parts, but not the quality

Yeah, I agree.

I have very little money tied up in these asian ones, so am not terribly concerned. If they give up in a year or two, I will look for the US-made ones, but given the costs of manufacturing here, I wonder how good such inexpensive items are likely to be.
