Has anyone had to replace the hood struts? They seem a lot looser, and in some cases it doesn't even hold the hood up that well. Part # or replacement # if it is some universal size?

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Yeah bought some a autozone, said direct fit but had to re-use the OE bottom attachment points off the old ones(just screws off),can't remember the part #'s.Now when I open my hood it almost lifts me with it,not joking either.

Mopar number for hood struts: 55360411AC, 55360411AB, 55360411AA
but they kinda expensive, I would go for aftermarket one.

When Cold out... the lift struts dont seem to work very effectively.
Once warmer, they seem to "rebound"
You might have to wait until it's warmer to decide if they really need replacement.

I think this happens as they get worn or lose compression/oil/etc.. and leak air over time. When the mechanism contracts from cold temps, it just slides more freely. We got at least 3 more months of cold weather. If they are around $50/pair, that would an OK expense to deal with.

Why 3 different numbers? I would prefer OEM replacement if possible.

I just replaced my hood struts and flipper glass struts at the same time, using the cheap Strongarm units from RockAuto. No way was I going to pay Mopar prices. They were direct-fit replacements, so no hassle at all - the job took just a few minutes.

Funny how you get used to the factory struts losing their compression over time. After fitting the new struts I pushed the flipper glass down with the same strength I needed to push it with the old, weaker struts (5 years old), and the glass didn't move at all :icon_lol:
