How Often do I change oil?

I just got my 05 liberty 3.7L 6cyl. How often should I change the oil if it has a synthetic blend?

I change the oil in my 06 every 7000kms or 5000miles. I just use conventional Castrol 5w30and a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer every oil change and it works good for me.

With a synthetic blend you should change it every 5000 miles. If you upgrade to full synthetic there are some out there that only need to be changed every 10,000 and Mobil 1 actually has a 20k mile oil as well. Changing your oil is the single most important thing you can do for any vehicle.

just remember that, no matter what OCI you choose, make sure you check your oil every few hundred miles you drive. The greatest oil in the world won't help if you run it low!

I go 3-5k no matter what level of oil I use.

^ X2 Running low could = a very bad day. I keep an extra quart of 5w-30 in the jeep, and check level at every fill up.

It is nice to see clean oil in the KJ. By 3-4K miles it is getting dirty, so I change it.

I do the same. Keep a extra quart in the jeep and check it every fill up. Can never be too safe not worth ruining a good motor because your too lazy to check/change your oil.

I'd go somewhere in between 3,000-4,000.

^^^ That’s what I do. I never go 6,000 miles between changes even though the owners manual says you can. The 3.7L in the KJ was never rated for that long, and the KK has the same engine.

I go 7000kms in my 06, I'm not sure what that is in miles.

I run Amsoil 5/20 w/ the Amsoil filter and I regularly run 15-20k between oil changes. 60k in on my replacement engine and the original engine had 269k and was still running, but I figured better safe than sorry since I'd been burning coolant for over 30k.

There is a reason why 3500 miles is a good OCI On the Jeeps.
Oil works hard & the friction modifiers break down over time.
Once oil is carbon & fuel contaminated, it thickens, and that's when the real worries begin.
The #1 reason why lifters get plugged up, & then rockers fall off, is because of lack of friction modifiers & contaminates in the oil.
Long OCI is a very bad idea IMHO.
