HOW TO: JET Performance Chip

STEP 1: Buy JET Chip

You must be registered for see images

STEP 2: Remove NEGATIVE battery terminal. (size 10 socket)

You must be registered for see images attach

STEP 3: Locate and Disconnect ALL plugs attached to the ECU.

STEP 4: Plug in the JET Chip. It can only go into 1 socket (3rd from the left) Make sure you firmly but carefully push the chip in all the way.

You must be registered for see images attach

STEP 5: Plug back in ALL the ECU harnesses.

STEP 6: Re-attach the negative battery terminal.

You must be registered for see images attach

STEP 7: MOST IMPORTANT ... Install your JET Performance Sticker!!!

How are you only getting 14-15 on the highway in a 2008?

I don't know. Larger tires, and an unaerodynamic brick I guess. I don't have a lead foot by any means, but after 100 miles of in town driving, I use half a tank. 130-140 miles highway at 70 mph, half a tank.

Hmm, does the KK get that much worse mileage? Anyone else follow their average? Your tire size doesn't seem extreme? I could understand if you had 200,000 miles on it and bad plugs, but you seem to be someone who maintains and knows how to maintain your vehicle. Plus it's only 2 years old.

That's just ugly.

With the skids and everything, do you know what your curbweight is?

I have an 2008 that just got 19.92 mpg last tank. I know it's stock but wow I commute 42 miles one way. Then again Houston is flat. I'm getting 320ish miles and that gets me till about a little under a quarter tank. I still want to install a CAI and maybe ponder chipping it before a possible lift and oversized tires

I bought it 10 months ago, and only have 4,521 miles on it now. I am going on a trip tomorrow, and decided to fill up after work today. I went 103 miles, all in town driving, and from the last fill up, it took 9.3 gallons. I got approx. 11 miles per gallon.

I will be driving approx. 120-130 miles tomorrow, all freeway, so I'll post my results when I fill up again tomorrow.

Man alive. You're not putting premium in it, right? The 3.7 calls for regular, and according to the FSM may suffer performance if you put premium in it.

Jeezopeat, dude, now I feel bad for ya. I mean, I got one gas tank with just under 14 once and I nearly had a heart attack. It was during the time when my ignition switch went out and was in the shop. Don't know if the guys in the shop idled it for a long time or what. But I've never seen anything below 14. My overall trend is slightly down over the last year. I'm attributing that to the aging vehicle. But generally, I'm high 15's to mid 16's in city, and on a long roadtrip I can hit just over 20.

Thats the million dollar question. I want one but first I need to see results.

Well, I just filled up again after taking a couple of trips. I drove 227 miles, 90% of that freeway at 70mph, and I used 13.9 gallons of fuel. I averaged 16.33 mpg this time, with almost all freeway driving.

My dad laughs at me about it. He has a 2007 Ram 1500 with a 5.7L hemi, and gets better mileage than me.


The only factors that I can figure that attribute to such bad mileage are the tires, and added accessories. The tires are 245/75R16, Load range E, and are very heavy. They are much heavier than the stock tires. They are a 10 ply tire, with 6 ply sidewall.

Also the added weight of the skid plates, tow hooks, and front grille guard didn't help.

I may try the Jet just to see if I get an increase in mileage. 2-3 mpg more would be awesome for me.
