how to replace egr valve on a 2.8 crd 05?

That's unlikely to be the EGR, no start when hot is classic crank angle sensor or a fuel system issue.
Did the garage tell you it was an EGR fault? If so I'd that the car elsewhere!

The engine light code is P0401 which is EGR. Here’s what the dealership said:
“The tech has found the egr does need to be replaced, Is your extended warranty valid? If not the repair is $1676”.

Owch, as I said above, it's highly unlikely that the EGR will be the cause of the poor hot starting. $1676 is insane money for the valve, if you can't pull it and clean it yourself it can be mapped out, there are people on the Lost Jeeps site who could help you, I believe it's a bit more difficult now because your government has interfered....
