The spring is still tight in can't turn it by hand. The actual spring seems to sit compressed about 1/4 inch lower then one that is not pressed from the cam lobe and this one has no rocker on it so should be up.

Quick question what is the difference between valve seat and valve seal? Is the seat the bottom round part attached to the steam.

SEAT - is the metal ring that is fitted (machined) into the cylinder head. The head of the valve is ground to match the seat.
SEAL - A rubber / flexible o-ring or hat style bit of material that goes over the shaft of the valve, and sits against the cylinder head - to prevent oil from entering the cylinder.

If you look back at post #16, TCLiberty posted a picture of the valve anatomy. A seal is #3

See this post for how a valve with a dropped seat looks.

Other folks report it is usually an intake valve.

From your description about the spring being compressed further ( assuming the cam is not pushing it down) you likely dropped a seat. Would result in 0 compression as you say.
