I need new tires for my 02 stock KJ

My car is bone stock, but I want to put some All Terrain tires on it. I plan on eventually getting a lift (probably in a year or so) but I absolutely need new tires right now. What kind of tire do you guys recommend? How much would they be and what size would I need to get?
Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

Phil had good suggestions. If you are getting a lift in the near future you might want to consider 245/70/16 tire size. That size fits stock but being slightly taller won't look so small after the lift.

245/70 is the largest tire you can run stock. Check out the wiki link in my signature. I would also check out the Firestone Destination A/T's.

I'm leaning towards the Wrangler SilentArmor or the Firestone Destination A/T, but are they really that much better than the General Grabber AT2's or are the BF Goodrich A/T's a lot better?

I'm just looking at price to get a feel for them I suppose and the Silent Armors seemed pretty mid range. Thanks for your help though.

my vote's for the Destination A/T's such a good tire for the buck.
quite, and grippy, and looks good too.

I went ahead and got the firestone destination A/Ts. When they put them on, they put my two good rims on one side and my two bad rims on the other (really feel like the rims on my 02 were poorly designed, but that's for another time). I'll post some pics soon, but I'm really happy with them.

Sweet, love to see those pics. As for both bad rims just take one and swap it with the other side (good rim).

nice....and yeah. just jack it up and swap swap it.. it is a PITA, but what can you do...

I feel like I'd rather have the good rims on one side and the bad ones on the other just so the car looks good from at least one side. Has anyone else had problems with their rims? Two of them are rusted and the paint is chipping.

As for the new tires, they look great and ride better.

my spare, under the covers, were decaying, so i took it off. other than that, the rims are normal. no real wear and tear.

you have the sport rims tho right, not the upgraded ones?
