I opened my air filter and WTF is that?

Nope that is a '05+ KJ thing.My '02 KJ has 2 breathers that vent directly into the intake tube,no filters or sponges at all.

My '04 had a sponge. That much I do know.

^^^^I have a Sponge Bob in my 05 and I know Hyed has one in his 04. Mine was dirty so I had to go slap him around.....he is all better now.........

Mine was dry...it had an oil spot or two on it. Maybe it's becasue it hadn't been driven yet???/ Would that affect anything???

There shouldn't be a ton of oil on it. If there is, you have a crankcase ventilation issue. If it's dry, slightly discolored, very little oil, you're in good shape.

Here is what I did

With this intake

You can ADD that to your existing OEM intake too, you just need that fitting on the end of the breather hose, which is basically a LARGER hose that fits over the breather hose end, then push a hose in the other side.

I used two band clamps to attach the hoses to the fuel filter. I used this filter, because it was the one that offered FREE FLOW, no resistance of air flow. I have used others that were harder to blow into, this one was TOPs... All you do, is, after a few months, or even a year, empty the oil out of the filter, or just buy another one.

For a minute I thought my memory had escaped me! I KNEW I had remembered a Spongebob in a pre '05 KJ.

So um... any '03 owners want to report a Spongebob? Or are they all like Alex's...? '04+ only?
