Ya, Jen and I are looking for a diesel Dodge 4X4 crew cab
I would really like a Dakota, but no Diesel. Shame really...
That would be a good set up.

We want a diesel 4x4 "Exended cab/crew cab" pich uo so we can have a more functional vehicle for taleing crap to the dump, getting a load of soil, of sticking a camper on the back or pulling a larger travel trailer.

That's what I'm lookin' at but the 2500HD, and for the same reasons... either Ram or Silverado. I guess I really need to research the trans choices because it looks like the deal breaker/maker.

Well how often are you going to be "pulling the world"? Reason i ask is bc if just every so often then the Dodge will be fine!

All summer .. then probably never, it (trailer) will be sitting on my property while I build my house. BUT .. it will be used for hauling building materials and logs out of and into the bush... etc. If the Allison is better I think it's a no brainer. Unless I am totally in the dark the longevity of the Cummins and Duramax are not really any different??? If I can get a stronger trans it would seem like a no brainer. I'll just have to get used to the (yawn) looks of the Chev.

I won't have to get used to the interior though .. buttery!

Dodges need U-joints and balljoints replaced every 20-30k miles.
Don't know anything about the '07+ GM trucks.
Fords don't have Cummins engines.
You could have a better truck by buying a '92-97 gas SRW F350 and put a 12v Cummins in it, and spend 1/8th of the money.

Or just go with a 90s model Ford F250 or 350 that has the 7.3!
