As the subject suggests, I have a 2002 that has the infinity system with an amp attached to each of the front door speakers. The driver's side speaker is toast (it's not the foam... I've already re-foamed it). I bought some replacement aftermarket speakers from another JKJC member to install... knowing that they do not have the amps attached.

I have the Infinity Refrence 6012i, 60 watts RMS 180 max.

I need information on how to transplant the stock amp to the aftermarket speaker. I've read here that it can be done - just need details from someone who has done so.

Here are the couple of threads I've been looking through...

If you have any information to help me out, please let me know.

There should be no problem doing that. The amps just have two wires(among many more wires) that go to the front speakers. Just use those same two wires and wire them to the new speakers. Only thing youve got to worry about is what to do with that amp since its mounted to the stock speakers. Just mount it inside of the door somewhere.

I successfully rewired the new speakers to the existing amps. Only problem now is finding a way to anchor the amp to the inside of the door. It's currently unattached to anything. Tried double-sided 3M tape, but it's not working.

I'm assuming that I need something waterproof (as the door drain is nearby where the speaker mounts in the door), and heat proof.

Thoughts?

Did you use the 3M doublesided tape thats a gray foam like product? The VHB type is the best, OEM's use it for body trim, water and temps don't bother that stuff at all.

Make sure to wipe down the back of the speaker and the surface of the amp with some alcohol wipes at a minimum, then stick on with the VHB and let it set a half hour or so before driving around. If that fails i would be shocked... Cause i have seen that stuff hold heavy equipment in place in squad cars with ease.

I'll give that a try.

Where do you get that kind of tape - somewhere like Lowes/Home Depot, or is it something more accessable at an auto parts store?

Thanks for that suggestion - I got some off of ebay for pretty cheap, and finished mounting the amps inside the door tonight. That stuff holds pretty well from what I can tell so far. The true test is the next time I take the KJ offroad. :D For now, everything is secure. Thanks again!
