Instrument Cluster

I have been looking around at the different instrument cluster that have been in the liberty through the years. Does anyone know if you can replace the panel in a 2005 Liberty Sport with a panel from a 2004 model, if so is this a major project? I like the look of the white background better and the only difference that is visible is that the speedo and tach are switched.

I have my doubts that it will work.

The KJs up to 2004 used a PCI Bus for communications while 2005 onwards used a CAN Bus.....very different.:sad72:

it was 06 when they started to use CAN bus for som of the KJ systems

As I understand the instructions from the Jeep remove and replace manual the 2005 Liberty is still PCI bus. I am very possibly wrong though.

'06 is when they went to CAN bus.

You can swap the cluster with no issues but the mileage can not be changed and you must have the proper paperwork for the swap that shows proof of the oil mileage and the current mileage of the cluster being swapped in."making it legal" part is really not worth it if you ever sell it as it could be traced back to you and then your in some hot water if you do not have the proper paperwork.

Ok my bad....it was 2006 they changed to CAN not 2005!
