I saw the below intake on Ebay, and thought that maybe due to the dual filters it may be able to get more air flow. I may be wrong, but thats what the rest of you guys are here for to tell me. I'm getting ready to put exhaust on my Renny, and i want an intake to start the flow process right. I dont wanna spend $250 on a K&N intake system. I found one with steal pipe for $40 buk, and i'll just throw a K&N filter on it. But i was wondering if anyone had seen the below intake, and had any comments.....bc i'd like to get the dual filter if indeed it would do me better. And if anyone knows where to get it besides EBAY (b/c i dont have an account) that would be helpful as well. (cut and paste the below and it should take you directly to the pic, or maybe just click)

As for the throttle body spacer, I was searching around and found one on the web about a week ago. But today I can't seem to find it..... and if you do have one let me know what you think about it.

Thanks for all the HELP!!

Okay, this topic has been thrown around alot, you can always do a search later on but...
It comes down to this. And this is my opinion. If you want to waste your money on that dual, bent pipe intake, go ahead.
They're not worth the money, you have an 04, that employs a IAT sensor at the throttle body. Not getting that plugged in right will give you error codes. Those peices on Ebay are lying, when they say 02-05. Some legit kits for 02-03 will only make about 6 additional HP.
The tubing is quite generous and has a very good path.
The only real restriction is the inlet neck.
There's only one intake out there that accomodates the 04-05 series and that's the legit, K&N system.

Also think about this, you have two filters, back in the engine bay, sucking all that heat from where there's no fresh cool air. Pointless. You'll have heat saturation, which is worse than running a stock intake system and paper element. Horsepower gains that those people promote, also a lie.
Plus, all that weight, not secured, bouncing when you go off road could snap off your throttle body neck.
Okay, that said, just save your money, do the exhaust, you'll be happy with that. It's what I did.

As for the throttle body spacer (TBS) If you were running a carb it would be more beneficial, for a FI engine, barely useable. A lot of people have attested it's a nice metal paper weight.
The devices promote a swirling action... When valves are opening so fast it's impossible to get any kind of swirl effect, feel the exhaust, it pulses, it's not a constant.
That goes for the Hurricane and Tornado devices as well.

Sorry to rain on your parade, hope that helps.

You aren't raining, i just want the best deal for the buck. I appreciate your help. So K&N it is, and what exhaust do you have? I talked to a guy who said he'd put the new MagnaFlow SUV muffler (big) to let the max amount of air flow, and deep (not raspy, or bubbly) with dual pipes out the back. But i was thinking of just keeping the stock pipe size and tail bc i like that the KJ's exhaust is hidden......any thoughts? :-k

Take a look at this intake.

I, personally am using a Edelbrock exhaust (SDT), Part # 55745

Here's the link
http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/exhaust/sdt_mufflers.shtml

picked up a #$%^load of HP, of course my mileage has suffered because I have trouble keeping my foot out of the power that it has given me. Just buy quality.
The pipes are already 2.5, so you don't need a cat-back. Just the muffler.
And I assume you're in Florida, then what Bennett suggested would work for you. California has terrible rules on emission controls.

Thanks for the help. How does that Eddlebrock sound? I'm just worried that I'm gonna get something that is bubbly, or raspy like a rice burner. I just want a deep clean sound. All you did was change the muffler? That should be expensive at all, that's great.

My jeep stock has 2.5" pipe? I thought it was 2.25"? If thats the case Ill take your advice and swap the muffler only. What about the tip...does that have a lot to do with sound or performance?

And i think that Rusty's intake advice, is one I will deffinatly take.

Thank you both. -JP-

I would best describe the sound as a growl. there's a guy who lives across from me who works on sport bikes all day long and he likes the sound, but it's definitly not silent any more, through a parking garage, you hear it coming.

Bought the muffler through Jegs, think it was $89. Free shipping, but a handling charge Total $99. Local muffler shop did an excellent job on the install, charged $80. I crawled under and sprayed down the whole works with high heat rustolem (silver) $8. Two cans worth, because I'm insane.

If the dealership asks any questions you tell them a rock peirced the muffler and I had to have it replaced. Or a 2x4 on the freeway damaged it severly. Never tell them you were off road at the time, believe it or not, some dealership actually go gonzo when you take your off road vehicle, off road.

Plus the replacement muffler is a lot smaller and somewhat lighter.
