Is your car a female, does adding a set of balls make it a male or trans?

Always puzzled me why people call a car a girl, a cousin of mine refers to all motorcycles and cars are she, when I was in Canada thy made fun of me for using the work (it) I guess its not in their dictionary, I have always used the word it for all types of equipment
