Maybe someone can help here...

I've got a bit of an issue... while towing a light trailer (lawn mower...), the transmission or something seemed to jump and have trouble changing gears, it jerks abruptly and repeatedly until it finally changes gears, however, this only happens between second and third gear, with overdrive off, while going up hill, between 25-35 miles per hour. A chevy mechanic buddy of mine suggested it could be a sensor, has anyone else experiences anything like this?

What trans do you have? I have the 45rfe and although i dont tow anything i can feel the same thing with mine when it's under load until it jumps down a gear. No codes or anything with mine. I just figured it was because i had 110k on it.

If it's a sensor that's causing that, your check engine light would be coming on fairly quickly.

Have you checked to make sure the fluid level is correct? How about the condition of the fluid? How many miles are on the KJ.

How many miles do you all have? Ever change the fluid and filter? Always use ATF+4.

If youre going that slow shift it into 2nd and leave it there till you get to the top of the hill or need to go faster.

90k, trans fluid is full and good color, has not been changed... its an early 03 in 85% possitive it has the 45. Problem repeated itself yesterday without the trailer, just the jeep itself going up the hill

Yeah, it will only do it with overdrive off... is this common? Should I let it go or drag into the stealership to see what they have to say?
