So obviously the scissors jack that came with the car is pretty useless now that it has been lifted. Using bricks and 2x4s under it is not favorable.

What do you guys use as your jack?

I'd love to get something that can be used for both car work/flat tire fix on the road/maybe off-road use too (go with hi lift?). If it fits nicely in the KJ it's also a big plus.

I have an everyday rolling 6ton i use in the garage, have a "foot" i made for my hilift for mud/sand to make the footprint bigger out of 2x6s and the whole base is 4x4s, all treated wood then painted with enamel paint to keep them nice. Long story short on trails i always have my hilift and base for it, on roadtrips i usually just use the base i made and the factory jack. I designed the base to be big enough for the hilift, factory jack, and my rolling "shop" jack so i can add 6" under eath to lift higher if ever need be. Never had any problems, not even having heard creaking or anything from the wood and ive lifted the back end of the jeep off the ground and the front of the wifes crv as well

I have a 4 ton HF floor jack that I love, works great. Not one I'd take on a trip though. Probably weighs 100lbs.

At home, I use a 4 ton duralast low profile jack I got about 6 years ago, and she's worked like a charm every time with no issues.. did run over the handle on it once and have to rig it back together though lol.. wouldn't advise doing that.
Also have a 2 ton low profile harbor freight jack that broke the second time I used it lol. So I returned it for a new one, and it sits in my garage in the box still, waiting for the day I need it.. never think I'm going to though, because when the 4 ton is being used, or I need something smaller I just use a 2 ton duralast jack I got in a kit a few years back for $70. Came with 2, 2 1/2 ton jack stands, the jack, 2 wheel chucks, and a lowpro creeper.. I was pleased.. but that creeper ended up run over as well LOL.. but, this time it wasn't me it was my buddy.

Also have 4 bottle jacks, but seems they're always too tall or too short, and I get sick of using blocks of wood, so they basically sit in the corner collecting dust.. but do come in great convenience once in awhile.

Have you had luck with your harbor freight one?
Maybe it's just the low profile one I got, but seems like I'm the only one to have it ***** in the middle of a job lol..
Jacked up the front with the wheels off to readjust a couple jack stands and it decided it should start letting the front go down to the ground :help:
Haha but I gotta say I've been extremely impressed with the 4ton duralast.. two full pumps and the whole front of the Explorer got off the ground with ease. Also the only thing that likes to slide under the front of my mustang (dropped 1.5") and lifts it like a charm.

If it ever breaks, I'm getting the same dang one lol. And if it does, it's from the stupid amount of abuse it's been through.
Nothing like loaning your jack to a buddy to work on his box Cherokee and getting a call from him to hear "So don't judge me, but your jack is stuck through the floor of my jeep" :happy175: like what?! How?! Rushed over to his house just to fall on the ground laughing..
That my friend, is why you don't work in a slanted driveway lol

I have several large roller jacks in the garage. Too big to carry around.

In the jeep I carry a portable roller jack in a case and several 2x10 pieces of wood for blocks if needed. The roller jack is much sturdier and faster than the OEM jack.

I've never used my factory Jeep bottle jack, never had a flat...knock wood. For home use, I have a H.F. aluminum racing jack, put it under the front lower control arm or rear axle housing. My 32" tires only raises the lower suspension points 1.5" higher off the ground from stock, so you guys should still be able to use a factory jack.

Now you jinxed yourself. :happy175:

I try to use my factory jack every few months just to make sure it work should I need it. Normally use an antique 3ton trolley jack and an assortment of bottle jacks in the garage.

So how do you change that tire?

That's why the collapsible jack stand is for.

Gotcha. I've always wanted one but I've never tried one. Seems like a bit more work compared to the factory jack or trolley jack (with jack stands too). I remember those old timey bumper jacks we had back in the day. Those high lift jacks always remind me of them.

I threw a bottle jack under my seat. There are all sorts of starting heights and fully extending heights. I believe I got mine from Amazon. Mine is a Black Hawk and this thing has been ABUSED. Like...forced to jack up under salt water type of abused. Still holds damn strong. Better believe I use jack stands though if it's not a flat on the side of the road.
