We have updated results for the Liberty (on our redesigned site) to include owner experiences through September 30, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2007: 104, worse than average

2006: 177, worse than average; common failures of window regulators for the 2006s and 2007s, but not earlier; also a couple reports of serpentine belt idler pulleys seizing

2005: 88, about average

2004: 84, about average

2003: 116, worse than average

2002: 79, about average

Decent sample sizes only for the 2005, so this is the most precise result.

Thank you, once again, to this forum and everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants we could provide more precise results and cover all model years.

I have never noticed this thread before. It got me thinking about all the shit that has broke / needed to be replaced. 2 window regulators, 2 driver's side CV's, 1 passenger CV, Intermediate shaft, I go through driver's side front axle seals fairly quickly, front driveshaft (boot is gone), lower ball joints, steering rack, need to replace both hubs, had 2 o2 sensors crap out, 1 abs sensor, TPMS has been acting funny since I have bought it, the PCV valve breaks everytime I change it, and I'm sure I am forgetting something else. This is on an '06 with currently 66,000 miles on the clock. I have never had a more troublesome vehicle. But, then again, I have never had any other vehicle balancing on 2 wheels at a 45 degree angle giving it a good dose of skinny pedal to get through some nasty rock v notch. Also why I haven't seriously wheeled in about 1 1/2 years. Still fixing and replacing stuff.

I wouldn't buy another one, and if I were to do it all over again, I wouldn't buy a DD and wheel it.

Edit: And before anyone says anything, I have been damn good with maintenance. Which ain't cheap either. :D :badger_1:

Window regulators fail often on the 2006s and 2007s, but not the earlier years.

As noted in the post, even the 2006 stat is worse because of one common failure, the window regulators. Not an expensive repair, especially if you DIY. Have you had to replace any?

Na, replaced the ball joint ( was replaced in 2006 by original owner ) but she was used and needed to be replaced. But the window regulator still work flawlessly on mine :)

It's nice to see that you are present to comment about the stat. I seriously think this is a very nice touch to your stat :)

Only major Issue I had was the Transmission blew less than 1,000 over my warranty. Other than that my flipper glass actuator doesn't work on the rear door and the PLASTIC, YES PLASTIC, AC condensor cracked and I replaced it with steel one.

I have a 2007 Libby with 3.7 v6, the other day I went to start it and something popped and then heard what sounds like the push rod hitting the valve cover and the engine has a miss in it. The Libby has 99,995 miles. It on the left side facing front of veh. I have never had anything like this happen before but believe the rocker are broke which caused the push rod to start hitting valve cover. Has anyone else heard of something like this happening to their Jeep Liberty?

The rocker may have fallen off or the #2 valve seat took a dump on ya. That cylinder is a source of real issues with this engine. You're gonna want to take it to a shop to have it looked at.

So it doesn't matter if its the 2006 model, its all 3.7 engines? Any way to prevent it?
