Does anyone have the Jeep Roof rack on a 2005 Renegade? If so pics please.

I'm interested in this as well, although I am leaning more toward a Yakima LoadWarrior becuase of all the accessory options available (hi-lift mount, light tabs, etc.)

Only problem with the Yakima is the price. Once you buy everything you are way over $300. That is nuts for a basket. But I do like the Yakima myself.

Yakima

Yakima is fine for light to medium chores. They are popular because they are easy to find, not because they are wonderful. Good company, popular, but there are better products.

Really for the money you should look into a one-piece welded unit. There are so many guys out there that make them now it is impossible not to get a solid, ultra-high quality basket. You can always add extras on to anything.

My personal experiance, Thule is a better brand of rack if you go that route. Otherwise see my post below and mount a custom basket with the stock mounts off the Renegade.

I do want to verify. I'm asking about the Jeep roof basket. I have an 05 Renny with the bigger rails. I want to know if any one has that combination.

I was interested as well...

...but I guess it's difficult to get a definite answer.

Surco Product, Inc. say they have no part that fits our Renegades. Other places I've asked (Yakima & Thule) basically say if you purchase "this & that" you can make it fit...total price goes up to $600, though. But I can't be absolutely certain. Why? Because when I get into details of the thicker rails on our Rennie's, they start talking about removing the "large plastic cover-like rack" like Surco did or had no knowledge the Renegade rails were slightly thicker. In the end they just tell me the exact same thing I just said..."can't be absolutely certain."

For now, I think our only hope is the Mopar basket. ](*,)

But if anyone finds a solution, PLEASE let us know! =P~

My 10 cents

I have a 2004 Renny. I removed the Hasbro plastic roof basket and installed Mopar Cross Rails to mount various items. There might be 2005-06 x-rails at your dealer.

That being said, there are a TON of basket makers out there. You can mount anything to the KJ as long as you have load rails. Just be creative. Most times a tape measure, some vucanized rubber, 4 hose clamps and 4 small sheet metal screws will do the job.

1. Measure your mounting area (the length of the load bars and width in the front & back)... the rails are closer together in the back.

2. Find a rack that will sit on top of your rails and purchase it.

3. put small 3"x3" strips of vulcanized rubber between where the rack and load bars meet.

4. Run hose clamps around each corner.

5. Drill a small hole through the clam and into the load bar.

6. Thread and screw a sheet metal screw through the clam into the bar to hold everything in place (safety).

Otherwise, substitute the clamps for U-brackets or bolt the rack directly to the bars.
