Hey y'all-

So I'm not sure if this one is in my head or not, but it would seem as if my Jeep is decelerating more quickly than usual when coasting. In an attempt to drive more conservatively and use less fuel/braking, I have been letting it coast a lot when decelerating from highway speed down to a stop and when it gets lower than 30 it seems to slow much quicker without any braking than it used to. It does roll freely at idle if the grade is not too steep, so I don't think it's an issue with the rear brakes as some have noted (there is no abnormal brake wear on the front or rear wheels). Fuel mileage is a bit lower than I would expect with a mix of highway and city driving at 16-17MPG, although I do have snow tires currently installed which is a higher friction rubber. I also have noticed a bit of clunking coming from the rear when hitting the accelerator when the Jeep is already rolling, which I think might be coming from the U-joint. Could this be related to or a symptom of a failed U-joint?

Just looking for some of your thoughts on this one from the more experienced KJ owners. Thanks!

Been spending any more time than usual with the t-case engaged? That would account for the quicker decceleration and reduced mpgs.

The u-joint might account for the noise, get under the KJ and check it.
