Mangate - That's it, more like a hollow spot. Good description. And it is more of a cold condition issue; when the engine/trans are warmed from some amount of driving it rarely occurs.
My 02 Sport (prelowered) also has low miles, just over 31,000 miles. It was a work vehicle that was only used to drive to construction jobsites. I bought it from the company in Sept 2006 with only 28,000 miles+ on it. But I noticed this quirk from day one when the company bought it new.

I have the same problem; I have a 2003 Liberty Sport (63,000 mi). It occurs when de-accelerating (the one I hate) and/or accelerating, actually the shift from 2nd to 3rd, but the difference is that only occurs when the engine is warm, never when it’s cold. Anyways, I’ll take it to the dealer and if I fix it I’ll let you know what’s been done to it.
