I was looking at the wiring diagrams today trying to figure out if I could keep the low beams on with the high beams without causing damage. I think I can, it would take two relays (one for each side) to keep from back feeding the LH and RH headlights, but it looks like the oe low beam headlamp relay would keep me from backfeeding the BCM as it is open when the highbeams are on.

I did this on my '93 Grand and it worked great. I had no issues and lighting was much better, also kept foglights on with highbeams. However, with BCM and split wiring it will not have the same effect on the KJ.

Anyone done this?

I actually spent a considerable amount of time in that section and read the post on keeping foglights on with highbeams, but I didn't see anything on keeping the lowbeam headlamps on with the highbeams.

However, I could have missed it, I'll look again.

My bad,I was thinking about the fogs. The KJ uses one bulb(9007's) that are duel filiment bulbs for the low/high beam. You could overheat the bulbs and blow them or fry the wiring since the 9007 bulbs are not ment to have both filiments on at the same time.Possible but your taking a risk at burning your KJ down.

The Grand uses a similar bulb (9004's if I recall correctly) and I never had an issue with them. As for the wiring the low beams and high beams are two independant circuits so they would see no more load than when the headlights are on normally.
