Hi guys I have a 2.8 CRD automatic kj diesel

The automatic gearbox has 1 2 D N R P

Anyone can explain what the 1 & 2 gears would be used for please?
Also when would 4 low be needed & 4 part time be needed?

Thank you

Do you have your owners manual? Best to find it and read first for a much better understanding.

Part time is for use on grass or snow/ slippery surfaces, binding in steering can occur if you are not on a slippery surface.

Always place the automatic transmission into Neutral first, then use transfer case handle to access part time or 4 low- and then back into drive.

Going out of either part time or 4 low also requires the transfer case handle to be placed into neutral and then back into drive.

You should never have to force the transfer case shifter otherwise it may not be in neutral.

The 1st or 2 gear can assist in slowing the Jeep down anytime.

4 low is only used when crawling up or down a hill at very slow speeds.
