So if I do a kit like ome o have to pay all that money again once then springs are no good?


You mean how long will the OMEs last?
My first OME setup lasted 100,000 miles and now its on another KJ ( of course its on a KJ thats been sitting 3-4 years waiting on a V-8 :icon_lol:)

So I'm gonna get the ome rear and front springs. The jba strut plate spacers. Then idk way shocks yet lol

Howeveeni found the BDS springs are a higher rating than one hmm

Go with Old Man Emu 927 series springs for front and Old Man Emu 948's for the rear and use Old Man Emu shocks they are engineered to work together or go with Bilstien shocks.

Go with the OME 927's up front and be done with it man. There's a reason nobody is recommending anything other than OME or Ironman - cause they are the best out there.

As far as shocks go - I'd recommend the Ironman's. That's what I'm running and it's a great set up. Worth every penny.

As far as functional vs. mall crawler - look at it from a ride quality perspective. My '02 had the stock suspension on it with 123k miles, was sagged about 1", the shocks were busted and leaking and I hated the ride. Felt like I had no suspension at all. I went to Mopar and priced out stock replacement parts and was looking at close to $1000 for all stock parts, plus I needed new tires anyway, so I was looking at a $1500 bill for ****** stock parts and cheap tires. Then I stumbled upon an Ironman lift kit on Craigslist and after researching it a bit I found this forum and read through all of the threads, asked a couple newbie questions, made some enemies, but found for about $1300 I could get a brand new suspension that rode 100x better than stock, was lifted about 3", and got some good tires - and saved a couple of bucks. I have over 4k miles on it and have yet to take it off road, so definitely a mall crawler here.

I went from hating my KJ to loving it. Keep finding myself dazing out my living room window at it, lol. I've shared too much....

What's weird is even stock my libby seems to sit.higher than others. I currently run/235's on her. I just wana bring up the front a little. It is rusting but I love it lol its my.project

235's are the stock size tire. I'm not sure the exact cut off date, but the first liberty's sat 3/4" higher from the factory. My '02 was at about 18.75" from center of hub to bottom of the fender. From the factory it was sitting at about 19.75". So my springs had sagged an inch. Now I'm at 22"....much better :party52:

I will probably end up with ome justngonnanhave to buy it piecenby piece. Now the springs everyone recommends are the mediums. Can I not usenthenheavy duty's and get more lift?

You can use the HD shocks if you plan on putting some weight on the vehicle with a bumper and winch etc. Without those items it will ride pretty rough but won't really net you any more lift.

235/70R16 is the most common factory size tire

Check the tag on your driver front door jamb - 235/70r16 was the tire size Jeep put on when new. And dude - PROOF READ!! damn...

I think he's referring to the HD springs, not shocks. If so, the HD's will not ride rough at all, not even close. I have 927's with no bumper/winch or anything and I love the ride. I honestly cant tell much of a difference between my 927's and the weak Ironman's I had on originally.

I know the HD springs I had where pretty rough. Those where Ironman HD's but I figured it'd be the same with OME.

927's are not HD's in my book 790's are

Exactly my point, I've been reading this and just a couple posts ago Hedsic is talking about using a heavy bumper and winch with HD's(927's). With 790's an arb & winch I think the 790's are to soft but at least they don't sag under the weight and the ride is smooth.

And everyone ELSE I don't think so! 927's are heavy duty for a Gas powered KJ and will handle a heavy bumper and winch but your ride height is diminished. The 790's are rated for the CRD but do an awesome job with a heavy bumper and winch. The list linked to in an above post reflects this.

I just mentioned Head Duty springs, I wasn't referring to OME specific. I was not aware that he had chosen to go with OME and was under the impression he was still trying to decide.

I do apologize that everyone feels I gave misinformation. I was just giving my own personal experience and when I had a set of heavy duty springs up front on my lift (which was Ironman HD springs but I was under the impression they where rated near the same as the HD OME's so assumed it would still be as rough). It was a pretty rough ride over bumps without the bumper or anything added on my lift.

I honestly wasn't trying to make things more confusing for anyone.

I was just using that as an example why I said what I did. Didnt intend to imply you were causing the confusion as it was implied that I was :happy175::shrug:.
