still not reading the first line
older rovers were geared much lower than a modern rig
new rovers ,with fuel injected V8's, do not have much in the way of power either and still need deep gearing in order to go off road with larger tires
sure they do ok with stock size tires
as did the older rovers
as will the 2.4 KJ
but on hard steep hills they could all use 1 of 2 things ,besides more traction
deeper gears
or
more HP
I am not sure on the very new rovers but I know that the SFA rovers could easily get deeper gears
I also know for a fact that the 2.4 KJ can not get lower gears
I also know for a fact that the 2.4 KJ out weighs a 2.4 wrangler
I also know for a fact that a 2.4 wrangler with even 31's can be some what of a **** with 4.10's
which brings up the fact that a 2.4 wrangler with 33's 4.88 gears
lockers and high clearance skids can run some of the hardest trails out their

Hello everyone. Finally, the search is over.. I got a '04 Renegade. Black
I'll have to deal with the taxes, but I think it's worth it anyway Thank you all for your support and help.
I had the vehicle checked by mechanics twice, there seems to be no problem. So I bought it. Still trying to get used to it. It's really fun
Now I'll have the spark plugs, spark plug cables and all fluids checked, and changed if necessary. Is this enough? Anything else I should check primarily?
I'll have to deal with the taxes, but I think it's worth it anyway

One question: Yesterday, while driving it for the first time, I was turning a corner and the back of the vehicle slipped badly. I gained control but it was quite scary I tested the same turning action many times, and the same thing happened twice again.
At the moment of turning, my speed was about 60 km/h. The road was slightly wet. I was on stock tires. And I never experienced such slipping withany other car before
Any ideas??

Heavy brick on poor tires is my first thought.

I didn't check them thoroughly, but the tires seemed to be ok. But I'll ceck them again.
BTW, coud it be the LSD(I'm not sure if I have one though)? I heard that driving with LSD on wet surfaces could be tricky sometimes.kopkrab.gif

Hoosierjeeper, I'm sorry but I don't know what exactly "skid" is. If you mean uncontrolled forward movement when braking, or spinning tires, then no.
In my case, the back of the vehicle slides left or right when turning sharply, thus getting out of control for a second or two.

Sounds like TFFC to me.
That would be Too Fast For Conditions.I do know for a fact that with the use of this liquid calcium chloride used to salt the roads around where I lived last year, I could lite my MT's up on wet pave no problem at all.....so tires are not always the culprit...maybe the roads around where you live have the same greasy salt crap on them too....
And "skids" are under the KJ....SKIDPLATES ARE FOR PROTECTION OF VALUABLE PIECES AND PARTS.

Skid plates....that means you probably have the off road package, so that means you have the LSD rear....

Ah, sorry for the skid plate issue, I was sure I got it wrong lol
Today it happened once again, I turned out to the street and backside slipped from side to side. If this is caused by the LSD, it is dangerous really. I get close to losing control. Don't even want to think what would happen if it happened at a higher speed..

It's caused by ****** tires, not a limited slip. Put some tires on the stinkin thing~!

It won't be ya LSD. It will be (censored) hopless tyres. Others will hopefully back me up on this one. It is an issue with high torque and low grip. Note..I didn't say high power....

Slow down,buy some tires......OH,and I have a locker in mine flog it with abandon in rain,snow mud doesn't slide out unless I want it to.Lsd might be causing this for you,but I doubt limited slip is.
