I'd think it's easier just to get some rebuilts from Autozone or Murray's. I don't think they are that expensive, are they? Either way you'll be bleeding the brakes and whatnot.

I do have the service manual, but my PC at home has got a virus, so I am not sure if I can get to it easily.

Replacing the seals and dust boots are easy, but if you got crud in there you will need to do more then just replace the boot and seal. You will need to hone out the calipher and polish the piston.

To remove the piston from the caliper simply remove it from the KJ,the hole where the banjp bolt was press a air blow gun(hooked to a air compressor),point the piston away from you(about 1"-2" from a rag on a table),and very slowly add air pressure to the calipher, and the piston will push out. It's real fun getting it all back in without ruining that dust boot though.

Save yourself some time and get remaned front caliphers, you must replace both at the same time, good time to get new pads and rotors while you got everything torn apart.

Get remaned ones as was suggested. Don't forget to return your old ones to get the core charge back.

^Dang, do you really? Ive never heard of anyone doing that.

Calipers are kinda $$. I paid $65 or so for one rear caliper from napa. I would say the fronts are a little more since they are bigger.

Caliphers are kinda the different in that regards, ussually the bigger single piston fronts are cheaper. Those darn smaller caliphers are pricy sometimes.

I bought some Chevy calipers(front,mid-80's pick-up) for $63 each, brand new and included ceramic pads and mount bolts.I wish my Wilwoods where that cheap(for the rear),came out to $150 each,no pads.

Once you half a$$ something that leads to an accident it will change your opinion on doing it right the first time. Luckily mine was just a fender bender. Also, I must ensure the safety of my wife and kids. If I have to spend an extra $100 to keep my kids safe it's worth it to me.

If you're doing new calipers do new flex lines and bancho fittings too. And all new synthetic fluid to all four corners while you're at it.
