Anymore these days, with so many bozos in the woods who think buying a deer tag makes them a hunter, I've started staying out of the woods during gun season ... )
So what you're saying is hunting used to be devoid of the crazy people, but driving never was.

Actually I believe this!

I have the auto in an 04 Libby and hate it. As mentioned on earlier posts, the transmission is constantly searching for the right gear, especially annoying when you live in an area with lots of hills/mountains.

5 speed and love it! Better mileage, better control, more fun.

Do you have a 4wd, and if so, what kind of mileage are you getting?

2WD w/LS, 235/70-16 SR-A's. 20.1 MPG over the past 10,000 miles, mixed city/hwy; lots of hills. I coast down lots of those hills though to come up with that mileage (can't do that in an auto though, but some wouldn't want to do it anyway)!

By the way, it's a nice shifting ****** -- not too fast, but not too boxy, not too narrow, but real easy to reach; feels solid. :thumbright:

Thanks. I have never seen mileage that good. My best tank ever was 19.1, all highway. But I am 4wd, and auto :alien: [/i]

Yoda, I saw my '04 Limited hit 24.1 on the EVIC. After the same trip, which included some four-wheel drive, I averaged 21. Not too bad!

i have the CRD automatic for two reasons:

1.- The CRD comes only with AT
2.- Is great to have my other hand free to use on female passenger!!! \:D/

Auto... although I think I'd rather have a manual for the "fun" factor. However, it wouldn't have been such a joy in downtown traffic this week. ](*,)

Well, it looks like I'm the only one here with the 6spd manual transmission. I just got it a few weeks ago and I have a 750 miles on the odometer. It goes in on tuesday for a new transmission ](*,)

When I accelerate slowly from a stop in first gear it will pop out of first gear very violently. It won't do it when I rev it to like 1500 rpm and ride the clutch but it does it while accelerating slowly with the rpm's around 1000-1200. It also wouldn't do it while just letting the clutch out slowly and not giving it gas. Only when giving it gas and at around 1000 rpm's. I either have to take off like a bat out of hell or extremely slow. Very annoying trying to drive around parking lots.

I dropped it off at the dealer and they said they never heard of that but they will look at it. The lady calls me back about 6 hours later and said they had 3 people drive it and nobody could recreate the problem. They also said they checked all the linkage and it was fine. I then told them I would come up there and get it to do it for them. So I go up there with them and get the tech in the car and off we go. I got a little nervous because my first 4-5 tries I couldn't get it to do it. I knew he was thinking I was crazy. Then all of a sudden BAM problem starts again. I proceed to do it about 4 more times with him in the car. So we drive back to the dealer. He tells me he's never seen that and he doesn't know what the prblem could be. He then tells me the car is too new and he's not going to mess with diagnosing it. Newtransmission is on order expected to be in tuesday.

On a side note I think they are handling the issue fairly and they have been very polite considering this is very frustrating.

Now for all the automatic transmission owners: Do you like your automatic ******? I think they shouldn't have switched trannys in 04; my ****** is horrible in my 04. All the bucking and can't decide on whether to shift out of OD and into 3rd. Maybe its just the torque converter is ******; maybe both are a bad combo in the 04 w/the new ******. All I have to say is no matter how many times the dealership can flash it; its not going to solve the problem.

They switch in 03. Personally, I kind of like my ******. Just wish it was a 5 speed auto. Just personaly preferance I guess.

Couldn't vote in the poll but mine is a 03 with 3.7L and 5-speed. I like it. Another advantage is the 19-22 mpg I get.

KJ 2002

Automatic Because:

(whistle) Its better in offroading (Fantastic when you are on mudy ground with 15% upward slope and you can start without clutch)

(whistle) You can use Cruise Control

(whistle) Its more confortable in the city.

With the manual in 4LO mode it will let you start it with the clutch out; at least this how it was in 2002. They still doing that?

actually i'd prefer a manual ****** if i lived by my cruise control. Only thing i dont like about automatics and CC is when you start going up a hill the ****** kicks down one, sometimes even 2 gears and you're now running at 4000rpm going up this tiny hill. Where as a manual it stays in whatever gear you left it in.

That being said I have an automatic with CC and have been spoiled by the auto....LOL
