Have a 2006 Liberty. Need to locate a wire under the hood which is hot only when ignition is on. Am trying to connect daytime running light kit. Just need to locate one hot wire. Any suggestions are welcome.

Are you looking for one that is on, when the key is in the on position, or one that is on when the car is running? I havent been able to find one that is only on when the car is running.

Found hot wire

I was looking for a wire which would be hot only when the ignition was on....that is, the engine running. I have tapped into the cooling system fan relay. One lead on the relay is hot only when ignition switch is in the ON position. Daytime running lights now working!

Just a word of caution, you may now overlaod the cooling fan relay and burn it out or the fan with the added load of the daytime running lights. There are plenty of "key on" power supply in the fuse panels that are not used, just need to find a accesory your KJ does not have and use that slot.By the way the fuse box under the hood has a place for day time running lights(since the are maditory for Candian models).

If you dont have a sunroof, you can tap in to that circuit at the fusebox. It should provide enough power to do DRL and it should be switched with the ignition. You'd have to run thru the firewall, but should be easy enough (theres a post somewhere in the how to forum that explains it)

Can't you just turn on your headlights and drive with them on? Why go through the trouble?
