Washed the KJ the other night and noticed the cowl was loose on the center to passenger side, as in there's a gap between the weather striping and the windshield. Driver's side looks fine. I can push it down on the passenger side and it seals on the end, but it still doesn't look perfect in the center. Haven't noticed any leaks or anything. Haven't ever taken it off, although it looks like it's been off because the windshield is aftermarket, but that would mean it was off back in 04, 05 or 06. What needs to be done? Thanks!

Anything wrong with running a bead of black silicone in the gaps? A new cowl and weather striping would be $200, don't feel like spending that if silicone would work.

I'd try the black silicone if it were me. I'm not sure but I don't think either my 02 or 05 cowls really seal tight to the windshield.

Could you check them out if you have a chance?
I would just use some silicone to seal it up.

If it's not normal I will...I noticed that there are vents in the cowl that would let water in anyway under the hood, so maybe this normal.

Saw an 06 or 07 for sale at a dealer, took a look at its cowl and it looked about the same. I noticed that there's gaps on both edges that look to be there by design, so this must not be intended to be water tight. Am I right?

Every one I've seen has had a slight gap
Also, there's slots all down it so it's definitely not meant to be a water barrier of any kind to my knowledge.. if so, they did a pretty bad job at designing it
I wouldn't worry about it too much

Checked mine today and there are assorted small gaps here and there along the cowls of both my 02 and 05. Definitely not a water proof seal.
