How dou you replace and/or inspect the fluid in a 5spd manual transmission?

There is a 17 mm (IIRC) allen wrench drain plug on the bottom and (IIRC again) a smaller one on the side for filling/inspecting.

On my '03 I believe the fill port is on the passenger side and it's a 14mm. I have 68,000+ miles on mine and I've changed it once, back around 45,000 miles. So far so good, but if you are a bit more concerned, check your user manual for the correct interval. Make sure you use the Synchromesh fluid only!

Changed mine at 40K and it was pretty bad - Also had a fair amount of metal shavings on the magnetic drain plug.
