Putting on my snow tires and rims, I noticed all the seams on my muffler has let go. Still sounds ok and don't smell any exhaust in the cab, but what are you guys using.
Tailpipe and cats are OK.
1. Magna-flow
2. Walker
3. Other brands

I used a Walker kit and some misc pieces to piece together my KJ's exhaust system as I bought it with half of it missing. worked out great and she's whisper quiet now

Magnaflow on the 04 for years now, had flowmaster for a short time but could not talk to the other person beside you due to drone at highway speed
Walker on the 03 now , had MBRP and well it was not love that I had for it at all
05 has dynoflow now
depends on if you want a little rumble or nice and quiet

MBRP on mine. I like it. Seems like its not for everyone though...
I liked mine except for anytime pulling a long hill ( which we have a lot of them where I currently live ) or pulling a loaded trailer etc, then way way too loud and could not talk to someone next to you
still laying on the shop floor waiting for next owner ;)

Which ones are stainless and which ones exit like the factory tail pipe does? I know magnaflow exits below the bumper. My flowmaster is nearing its time...

MBRP has a stainless option and follows the same factory path and exit point

I love my Gibson, stainless, factory routing, and no drone just slightly more rumble then stock.

Thanks for the reply guys, leaning towards a walker as I'm hard of hearing as it is, don't need any more noise than what's already there.

After 6-7 years the welded Thrush I put on let go. (basically a Flowmaster copy)

I stole the stocker off the parts Jeep. Really quiet. Herself dd not approve. "I can't hear the engine so I don't know when to change gears!"

Welded the Thrush back together and reinstalled it. She is happy again.

Looks like both the MBRP and Gibson exit below the rear bumper and have a fancy tip on it.

Is the factory exhaust 2.25" but necks down to 2.125" at the stock muffler? There are alot of 409 stainless tail pipes that are less than $100 and exit just like the factory exhaust.

Stock they were 2.5 down to 2.25 right at the muffler and 2.5 out the back and tail pipe , I always cut at the 2.5 and use a muffler to match that
but the one on the 03 now is same as stock, with the tail pipe being bent using 1970 technology , not mandrel bent like I like
I'll be switching over using the MBRP tail pipe soon, ( when I get time ) I think it will work
Since I'm running none stock rear bumpers on the 03 and 04 I hate how the stock hangs down, even cut the end off of the MBRP and changed it a bit

04 still has the stock tail pipe, even after 16 years and 236,000 miles :)

Hmm, guess I wont be getting the cheap SS tail pipes, theyre all 2.25"...

My stock tail pipe is ok but I'm not sure there is enough straight section left to put another muffler on it. Wont know still I cut the mess off the local shop gobbed on.

You can pick up a muffler coupling to join your used tailpipe to you new muffler where they cobbled things up. That would correct that area and save you a few buxs. Then paint your tail pipe with Tremclad high heat BBQ paint. Pick up a 4 or 8 ounce can of it.

I "think" mine is the original exhaust, which is almost perfect. it's quiet when cruising, but has a little rumble when accelerating. its getting pretty rusty at the seams, so i will be in the market for at least a muffler fairly soon. does anyone know if the walker still retains that rumble when accelerating?

None of mine ever had a rumble when new really
The walker I have on the 03 now does have a nice little rumble sound when idling
Not sure what it sounds like outside when on the road, since I can't run that fast, or at least as fast as I drive ;)
