Hi I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty from what I have been told by a friend the truck seems to be in "LIMP MODE" when I put the truck in drive it won't last first gear but I can manually shift it to second no problem but won't go to 3rd or 4th. The truck also started to miss fire it seems like. When I disconnect the battery and reconnect it the truck starts up fine until about 30 seconds later it starts running a little rough again. Also my radio turns on and off I'm guessing there's an electrical problem also Can anyone tell me what the problem is ? Or sorta point me in the right direction

Check the battery. These things have computers that do odd things with low voltages. Clean the connections too.

A good thing to do is have the charging system checked, I would take the battery to some where that can test it. Second check to see what the charging voltage is when the jeep is running, then last or maybe the first thing to do is to check to make sure that all your battery terminals are clean and that your grounds are good and clean.

^ Everything that Renegade and CalCity said.

Clearly there is something functionally wrong with the vehicle, and it is trying to prevent more damage, which is why you see it not wanting to start/shifter into higher gears.

Even if the check engine light (MIL) is not on, you need to scan for fault codes.

If it is misfiring, have you checked the basic things? Spark plugs, coils/boots, intake tube, vacuum and vent lines to and from the intake manifold...
