I put on my a-arms today. They seem to work really good. They actually quieted down the front a bit when hitting bumps. Anyway, look at the alignment. it was an inch off on toe. :shakehead: ...before of course.

Here's some pics and the alignment sheet

You can see where I cut/beat out the pocket for the arms to be totally free coming down. Don't know if it will come in handy or not, but they seemed to hit fairly early with the stock metal still in place there. I used glossy rustoleum paint. Flat would look better.

Rides pretty good now. Seems a bit more stable or something up front. Not quite sure. Definitely better.

They couldn't get the caster in spec on the left for some reason. The front sits just 1/4 inch higher than the rear now since I added just a bit of clevis lift. Is that why? I may put in extra isos to bring the rear up a half inch, but I'm not sure yet. I think it may handle better if I do.

Can't wait for my JBAs to get here!

So judging from the above, should probably cut a small section out of the Teraflex bumpstops to allow the balljoint hardware to clear and not get smashed too much.

Noticed some of you cut the pockets out of the recesses of well body... is this required with a moderate lift or do you just need this for the travel of a Franky or greater?

Rockymountain, what did you use to do your pocket cutting? Saw a cheap 3" air cutoff saw on sale, don't think my 4.5" grinder would fit well and the vibro craft cutter I have is fine for plastic or thin metal, but the body panels look like they'd eat up blades way too quick.

(More jobs on the lift list... now I know what they meant by you're never done... :pp:)

Nice. This place never ceases to crack me up.

Get a cheap little grinder! Use it for pretty well everything now and gives your drill a break for wire cleaning/sanding/polishing stuff.

Anyone seen any "above view" sort of shots of the cuts in the Teraflex? Want to try and keep it from looking too chewed up.

Mitch you can leave the Tera-Flex without the notch.
In extreme upward travel only will the zerk make contact and leave a small round impact on the bottom of the bump stop.
It will still do it's job, without an unsightly square cut.

I'd notch it.I ran extended bumbstops that were about 1" shorter then the TerraFlex ones(the ones that came with SkyJacker lift) and would always hit the bumpstops, even normal city driving with 425lbs front coils giving me 3.75" of lift.

X's two you have to notch them!
Ever try to get a broken off zerk out? Not fun

By the way I did not notch the ones I showed the pics of, I was trying to give the owner something to do

Ya I suppose it would be better to have a flat hit beside the zerk fitting.
That being said, Ryan & Jen Have wheeled lots, also with 4.5s never notched theirs, and no huge impacts.
Zerk is fine after years, no problem, but leaves a small round spot if it does ever hit, why not just drill a hole larger in the bottom where the zerk could go into.

That would work fine too, probably what I'd do, since you have to take them off anyway.

Hey Mitch, I didn't bother with the pockets. I have those A-Arms are they are just fine. Lemme know if you wanna see my rig for reference on anything. It's not as fancy as yours will be but you might get a few pointers from my experience putting everything in.

:dancingpoop: Crap. No A-arms in the mail today.

Maybe next week...

Will probably use a spade drill bit to make a hole for the zerk - did that for my rear bumpstops so I could recess the bolt and worked out really nice even drilling into rubber.

Too late! Arms are in.

Now if I could get the bloody Teraflex bumpstops to be more agreeable...
