Haha. So I drove it twice and really didn't feel a lack of power shifting through the gears. I drive my cars so conservatively too that going for the v6 did not seem like the right choice. Plus, 6-speed! 6! It was fun to drive I thought and lugged my 4k lbs around pretty good I thought!
Think about how much harder a 4cyl has to work vs a 6cyl to move 4000lbs...which I think is conservative. Full tank of gas, passengers, and cargo..you're easily at more like 4500-5000. But regardless, if you want longevity, I would get the 3.7L. That's why you won't really see any mileage benefits either...yeah, smaller engine, that has to work a lot harder and consume a lot more fuel.
Personally, I would never buy a 4cyl SUV of any kind...but ultimately your decision...so enjoy whatever you choose and welcome.
