New owner and problems already?!?!?

Hi all;

Just picked up a 2004 Liberty with 93500 miles on it. One owner and well taken care of, only a few rust spots etc. I have had this vehicle less than 48 hours and have discovered a coolant leak, soft ball sized wet spot on driveway after sitting overnight. No overheating problem as of yet. I had the upper and lower hoses replaced and the system flushed by the local shop that does my repair work. They pressure tested the system and declared it to be all good. Now this morning the unsightly wet spot has returned to the driveway. It's in the same location as before front center of the engine compartment. I am thinking it's the water pump? Could a leaking water pump pass a pressure test? Any input would be greatly appreciated. This is my first jeep and though technically it's for my son when he gets his license however this thing is growing on me and I really want to like it but I am I little concerned about the maintenance issues. Can't answer the pressure test question .. but there is a weep hole near the bottom of the pump. If it is leaking from there, or around the seal, that is your culprit. Very easy do-it-yourself job.

So you had this issue before they replaced the hoses ?
If so they didn't fix the problem so back it goes to them.
But more than likely if its front and center then water pump
If you look close you should be able to see where its dripping down from

Seems like a water pump to me too. Make sure you refill with HOAT coolant only!

my dad used to use a ultra violet sensitive fluid and pour it into different systems (totally unharmful) and than trace it back. he was a mechanic so i learned a little from him. perhaps that and a blacklight could help you?

You sure it is coolant and not PS fluid? It is common for the high pressure line to leak a bit (mine does although the fluid never seems to decrease much). Take a close look at the PS hoses to see if they are clean and dry.

We'll after further investigation and some strong language with the dealer I bought this from the water pump was the issue and the dealer replaced it for me for free. I am officially liking this liberty. Of course on the way home the CD player crapped out on me so that is being replaced with a Sony head unit, blue tooth and sirrusxm radio plus a remote starter. Lol. I like to have a project. My son is starting to wonder if he is actually going to get this jeep for himself in 8 months lol. Time will tell. Thanks everyone for your help. Dan
