Jeep has 225/75R16’s on stock rims on it now. What would I need to do to get 245/75R16’s?

can I go to a 17”?

would a regear be needed?

I’m running 245/75R16 on my stock rims. The power loss and mpg loss are there, but it’s not the worst. I’ve wanted to regear, but the Jeep has been ok for 100,000 miles like this. I wouldn’t want to go any bigger without 4.10’s. 17” rims don’t have any special advantage over the 16” rims you have now. In fact the 16’s are better for airing down your tires on trails.

In order to run that size, you’ll need a 2.5 inch lift and might need to pound over the pinch welds if you find that they rub. OME springs with OME or Bilstein shocks is the way to go. Spacers will cause sagging and other issues down the road.

I'm already planning an OME lift, parts on order. Just wondering if I can clear it and what the drawbacks are gonna be. Didn't know if I needed to throw gears in there too - Thanks for the reply!

Yes if going OME 927/948 springs etc then 245-75-16s will work
Pound over the pinch weld for sure
as far as gears go, you can get by, as Mr Howard stated, you will lose gas mileage and power, but can work around it, kicking off overdrive etc
but when pulling a loaded trailer, or if you live where there are a lot of hills , 4.10s are great
I run 265-70-16s ( same height as the 245-75-16s just wider ) on the 03 with 2.5 inches of lift and 4.10s, wouldn't have it any other way

Are there many available 4.10 kits still available for the jeep? Any that you trust?

There are some yes, ask jeepjeepster he just did his a while back
Only front 4.10s for the D30a is the Dana Spicer of course

Tomm, If I go 245/75-R16's, What size rim/backspacing would you recommend? For alittle more aggressive look
