Basically, I went over a decent bump yesterday and all my traction control lights and for some reason handbrake light came on? I parked and checked everything out, and turned it back on and it was fine, got to work alright. Fast forward after work, I'm leaving the parking lot and notice when I flip my stalk up or down, nothing happens, not even the arrows on the dash blink. Pressing the hazard button does nothing. Brakes and reverse lights are fine, headlights, brights, and fogs light up. Haven't checked fuses yet but I have a feeling they're fine.

What year is your jeep?
You should check fuses, to start out with. Are all fuses good?
Once we know what year you have we can better help you with diagnostics.
Scanning Obd2 for codes is now recommended. Post back any trouble codes...

Check all fuses, mainly fuse #11 and fuse # 39 under the hood for the Flasher Unit but also all fuses on the interior fuse panel.

The ground for the Flasher unit is a G202 which is a black connector inside the Left Kick Panel.

Download the 2006 KJ Service manuals here..section 8W has the wiring diagrams...fiind the Hazard Flasher in the diagrams and find out why that is not working.

Probably a loose connector going to the Flasher unit which controls the turn signals!;)

Traced it to behind the rear driverside tire, all connections look good, I look over to the muffler and see this. I think I found the problem, will see what I can do.

Its definitely this cluster that came loose and got burned. I'm gonna have to cut and reroute them one by one. Zip ties all the way, those factory clamps held up for 15 years so im not surprised, wish I caught it beforehand though.

Oh dang. Thanks for the pic. I need to check in there when I get mine going again. Don't wanna fry wires. I am surprised mine aren't already down. I had someone hit mine in that bumper and drive off. Plus I am off road a good bit.

Yeah that area looks very bad...hopefully any shorts there have not caused any further damage elsewhere!

Hope that fixing that up will resolve your problems...wiring problems are getting more common as these Jeeps of ours get older!:(

Guess they routed more wires in that area. All my 04 has there is the hitch plug wiring.

Strange that clip came out. Usually those christmas tree fasteners are pretty stout.

Yeah, I got everything cleaned up, got my brake lights and hazards back, but blinkers still not working. Arrows still dont light up on the cluster when I flip the stalk, but its also not blowing the fuse anymore either, guess something is unplugged as well

Take the two hidden screws out of the bottom of the steering column cover. Take that off, then carefully get the top out of the way. The button on the top panel doesn't give a lot of slack. But once to slip it around some you can check the blinker tree connections.

Do your wipers work?

Wipers and everything works, just no blinkers. Whats weird is before I wrapped all the wires back up, I separated them just to check things before I put em up, and the left blinker worked but turning the right one on would blow the fuse, so I thought putting em all back in place all wrapped up so they don't short out would fix it, but apparently that just made blinkers not happen.

Guess I'll check the ground, wherever that is. I hate how they decided the best spot for blinker electronics would be in the bumper, especially right by the exhaust like that

Normally they are so far up in there they are hard to even get down to that height. Bet someone was trying to hook up lights and pulled them down out. Have never seen or even heard of anything like that happening before

Your Multifunction switch could have packed up as well as this is what gets the blinkers to flash and also flashes on the Cluster.

The turn stalk on the Multifunction Switch
feeds into the Flasher unit so if the Flasher Unit is working then it could be the wiring between the two units is faulty but these Malfunction Switches do give problems.:(

If you get a new one make sure it is correct for front Fog Lights or not!;)

U think it could be the stalk/switch even though the lights and all work?

Try a new turn signal flasher unit. Could have welded the contacts when the power surged.

How many wires are in that bundle and where is it going? Maybe it is just the hitch wiring.

If it is, you can pull the panel out in the cargo area and bypass the wiring, just to see if thats the issue. I just installed the factory hitch wiring on my KJ this past weekend. You can unplug those connectors then plug them into them-self to bypass the hitch wiring.

Ill have to try that when I can, I never use the hitch on this thing and if that brings my blinkers back without having to mess with other things or buy a new switch, I'm all for it
