Odd squeaking sound, maybe a U-Joint.

I would say that the CV pulled out of the front differential, not the transfer case . If the front driveshaft pulled out of the transfer case you have serious issues
I have it all back together and drives perfect I got Lucky. I agree I love working on the older vehicles I'm glad my Compass is under warranty. I pulled shock fork/tower all you need is 1 1/2 inch. You can pull CV Axle, moves free much easier as long as you don't have any other damage.

KJs are as simple to work on as any older car or truck as far as suspension goes, ( and most all other repairs )
As far as warranty's go, out of the 19 new vehicles I bought new over the last 50 years, never took one in for warranty, never helped me at all LOL
Of course by the time most all were a few weeks old , new suspension, motor already went through etc
Never drive a stock vehicle

I agree I got ours from a Jeep dealer I've known for years. I got a new 2019 in June of 2020 full warranty and oil for life. I have my own tech/mechanic there that does all my warranty work he's old school motor head. That and my son works at Chrysler. But that's the last and first one since 1986, Chevy Z24 Cavalier that and it had a clutch
