Mine was fleet (Provincial Government) before I got it. I had a buddy at the dealership look into the history. All he could say was if something needed to be done to it, it got done. I had my mechanic go over it when I bought it, he said it all looked good. Fleet contracts are the bread and butter to some maintenance/parts companies. And I don't think rental company cars are as bad as some people think. Theses days they don't seem to keep them long enough to get too badly beat up. And these bigger companies know reputation still means a thing or two to some people.
