So I seem to have an A/C gremlin. I could really use your guys help as its starting to get really hot here in the desert and I have a baby dew in two weeks.

The A/C works like a champ when it wants to, but it randomly doesnt turn on with the truck sometimes. then it sometimes turns on about a min after, and sometimes 20min after, sometimes not at all. This can happen at any time of the day, any temp. I have yet to find a pattern to it so my guess is its a fuse or relay thats getting ready to give up? I know nothing about A/C and dont know where to start.

When this happens I turn the A/C all the way up to I can tell when it comes back on. When it turns on it blows like a champ, hard and cold. This morning I took a 45min drive and the A/C never came on, this worries me with the baby right around the corner.

Any help would be appreciated

Its an 04' and ive never had it professionally serviced because I live in Abu Dhabi and last time i took it to the dealer I told him I wanted the flux capacitor flushed and he actually priced it out for me. so i have no one to trust here.

Surely there's a garage somewhere that you trust and can simply service the A/C. Just be careful, if they don't know what's going on they will just throw a compressor at it which may or may not fix it. I'd get the pressures checked to start with.

If you guys could spent 20 min in Mussafa (the mechanic district) you would see what I mean about not being able to trust them. Its hard to explain.

Good news is I have a friend here that was willing to troubleshoot with me and we followed the problem to the blower being clogged with sand. so we pulled it out and shook all the sand out and bathed it in WD40 (also very rare and hard to find here) and it seems to be working fine for now.

I have a trip home in July, if it gives me any more trouble ill pick on up while im there. unless it dies completely, then ill have to bite the bullet and spend $250 they charge for them here.

thanks for the help guys, hope this thread helps someone in the future.
