In effort to see more of the area, we opted to stay off of the interstate until we got to the front range in Colorado - because after that, everything almost looked like it did back at home. p:

We left from our rest stop sleeping area and found the border town of Manila (pop. 800), not far from the Flaming Gorge Recreational Area. We found a little ma & pa restaurant where we had some breakfast before continuing down the road.

This area had signs placed telling travelers what the landscape meant in prehistoric times - for example, one sign states that the area you drive through was where coal was once formed... etc. Lots of variety to the landscape in such a small area.

So we're cruising along at a pretty good pace on a highway in Colorado, we come around a bend to find about a 1/2 mile worth of these...

SHEEP!!

With the sheep was included one herder and one dog.

The snow was a welcomed site (especially after hearing how it was in the 90's and humid at home :freak3. We went from 65-degrees in the valley to nearly 40-degrees mountain top.

The rest of our afternoon was enjoyed by maneuvering the winding mountain roads and enjoying the sites...

I didn't bother much with pictures once we got back on the interstate to work our way back through Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois... for obvious reasons.
