Phantom Oil Light

I picked up my replacement at Advance Auto ($41.99) for my 2002 Sport. Not as inexpensive as the one's you mentioned but it came in a box from BWD Automotive. I ended up having my Jeep towed home because I knew I was running out of daylight. My daughter needs the car to get to school so I couldn't wait to order a part on line. Thanks to everyone on this thread as it made the repair much easier with all the advice. I'm hoping it is fixed as I drove it for about 15 minutes after the replacement and the oil light did not come on.

Awesome... Seems like these are a pretty common failure part, i should pick one up and keep it on hand for when mine goes someday.

I just repalced my sensor about a week ago. It was a $12 part from napa. It is located just above the oil filter, there is a red lock on the wire plug. You have many other clips like these throughout the engine back so find one and you'll see how to operate the locking mechanism, then you can try it on the actual sensor because you can't see what you're doing while trying to unsnap the plug. Once removing the plug, you can unscrew the sensor. Mine took a 1-1/16" Deep Well socket on my 05 3.7. Not sure if there are different ones. Anyway prepare to get dirty when changing it and set aside about an hour to do the job. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to message me.
