So yeah...I just recently updated my Ipod touch 8 gig to the 2.1.1 version so I could put games on it. Next time I plugged it into the USB cable coming off my Pioneer head unit, I get this weird "error 19" message. I googled it but couldn't really find much. I'm assuming it would still work with an aux cable, but the USB allows me to switch songs using the head unit controls rather than the Ipod controls, so I prefer the USB hookup. Anyone ever heard of this happening before, or know how to fix it? I've gathered enough info to know it's an issue with the ipod, not the head unit, based on some apple websites.

I would definitely check your iPod audio output settings. My iphone works without errors on my pioneer, but I havent tried to control it on the head-unit. I can guaruntee that the auxillary cable will work though. I personally prefer to control on the ipod, because i can only see one title at a time on the headunit, and because if you scroll to fast, the pioneer cant read it fast enough, and the screen stops displaying the info until you slow down. It still scrolls, but you dont really see wahts going on.

Just thought id name a few downsides to make you feel alittle better about it not working :)

OH and what does your ipod say? After a software update, my bose dock stopped charging my iphone. my iphone ahd a message saying "charging not supported with this device" apparently, the new software didnt account for whatever bose needed. So maybe it was the update changing some settings that didnt allow for the pioneer hookup

The reason it doesn't work with the Bose- The new iPods (Fall 08 and up) do not support FireWire connection, and the Bose uses fire wire connection to charge the iPod. :)

Yeah well it's too hard to change songs on the ipod while driving, and I can use the remote with the head unit to make things easier--IF it's working. It did work prior to the update, so my guess is that's part of the problem. I found some things on google where people said they would get the error message on the ipod itself when trying to hook up to the new itunes version, but I'm getting the message on the HU itself =\

Seach on google for a place where you can download the previous software. I know of a place, but I forgot...:)

If you really want USB control, what about getting a 1st or 2nd gen iPod Nano.

error 19

I have had this same problem with my ipod touch and it was before and after the download of the new version 2.1.1 for the ipod. I think it has to do with the connection to the USB.
