what the heck is that?

Its a Pyle not sure of the model number, but 4.3" touchscreen DVD/CD player with MP3 and mini-usb inputs as well and 2 audio outputs (1 sub out) 1 video input and rear camera input. It has bluetooth for either calls or music with a built in mic which is real nice when driving. The only downfall for it is the lack of choice for the screen display, no cool image backgrounds or anything exciting.
I got it off ebay for $125 shipped i think it was a manufactured but the faceplate was all new as was remote and all wiring.

Also the faceplate is removable and comes with a case, and also tilts.

You mean whole 11 "Kinds of Background Color" is not enough?
Look at the resolution, one wild res it's got: 1440x234 Pixels
Buy.com has it too http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=208073467&listingid=50516812, you are pretty lucky to find that, especially with a KJ adapter. It is 1.5 DIN i believe, so it fits nicely in place of stock radio.

You just need to make your own CarPC and buy this. http://www.centrafuse.com
Those low profile HTPC cases work great for this, but you need a lot of fabrication. I am sure someone would be up to this no doubt.

well thats just like the solid color behind the data displayed, nothing fancy like the expensive alpines or pioneer avics

Also those double din decks are real nice, but fitting a double din in a KJs 1.5 din space is probably some good fabrication...

It's been done. I've even seen one of those carputer buffs who took two KJ bezels and some fiberglass and made a custom bezel including his 7" touchscreen control for the carputer. It was slick, but definitely beyond my patience level.

How can they sell something like that for $185 and why doesnt everyone have one? Looks pretty awesome to me.. Going to go read some forums and see if I can find anything about them.

I don't know, it seems like they all hate it, yet nobody seems to have a long term experience with it. Like this guy.. "Because it is a very low quality product, ie: 'pyle of shit' just like Sony HU's and subwoofers." Wtf? If they are half as bad as Sony, I will take it.

Especially on that last link you posted. There is at least one guy who claims they are a good brand and good H/U.

i love the review
"no one has any expereince because everyone knows they just suck..
end of story"
i mean come on really?? thats one of the guys who believes everything he sees/hears on the internet.

Yeah i saw a few reviews (not these but they were still saying its cheap stuff) and i decided for $125 for a remanufactered, with new face and 1 year warranty (could of got the 5 year for another $25) it was worth it to me. I do not do competition audio but for the same price as a basic kenwood, pioneer sony or alpine deck it was worth it to me! (not bashing them because i've had them all and liked them!)
With stock speakers and a 12" infinity sub (only pushing 300 watts to it) it sounds very good. You don't get as much control as the nicer more expensive decks with crossovers frequency's etc. but for a daily driver car you do not need those!

I've had mine for about 3 months and have not had a single issue with it. The bluetooth works great, the wiring was all nice and easy, inputs/outputs and aux in are nice, removing the faceplate is very easy and pops back on with no force. Oh it does take a bit longer for the CDs to load, but my panasonic 7" touchscreen also took longer so it may be a common thing for these style decks.
They do overrate their power they say its got a 80x4 amp but its pushing the same as every other brands 50x4 and i guess only time will tell how long it will last!

I use Pyle speakers in my KJ. I was looking to do a slight upgrade to factory without dropping 300.00 to replace all six speakers. I can't say much about the HU's but the speakers are a nice, cheap upgrade. Much cleaner sound then stock without the $ for top end. I run an Alpine HU w/o any amps and the speakers do just fine.

Treated my self a while back and brought the Kenwood KVT-522DVD (with Bluetooth as an optional extra) the new version is the 524 i think, anyway that allows you to pick whatever colour you want. I previously had it in a Hyundai Coupe were it was Blue, fitted it to my jeep and changed it to green.
