Not shure how much it weighs but its a 12kgvwr 20 ft equipment trailer and those sides are stupid heavy. Im thinking 3k-3500 lbs.it pulled it great but i seriously question chryslers sanity with a 5 k rating for these things this was enough to push the rear going through corners in the mountains

Do you have the tow package? Since you just got the hitch I'm thinking you dont. Only a 5k rating with the tow package otherwise 3.5k is max.

No i dont have the "tow package" but even if i did. i still question their sanity this thing is way to light to keep that kind of load stable.
Now mind you i have a 06 so all that is a "tow package" is a mechanical fan wiring and hitch. Ive been hauling trailers most of my life and are very familiar with them and their dynamics but 5k behind a vehicle with p metric tires is asking for some serious problems.

I have towed close to the 5k rating and I would have to say it actually tows it well but you need to balance your load and keep most of the weight off the rear axle of the libby. Also just a FYI I run 89 octane when towing.

Hi folks I am new to the forum. I am the original owner of a 2003 Liberty and I don't have a trailer hitch on it. My question is this, if I get the hitch put on by a dealer, will they also do the wiring for a 4 pin connection for my boat? I currently only tow the boat with my 98 Chevy k1500.

its only hitch because it is to repair the gas tank issue not to pull something.

got ethanol free premium for the first time in at least a year, yea I know it isn't meant to run on 91, but i'd rather run 91 ethanol free than 87 with 15% ethanol.

Okay, thank you. I now assume it's just the receiver and not the ball mount/ball. Not a problem. I would think a bigger, heavier and lower bumper would have been the common sense solution to this problem.

Well folks, I got my official Liberty trailer hitch installed by a local dealer today. The dealer also said my water pump is leaking. It's possible there is a small drip, however, my garage floor has been dry thus far and the anti-freeze level is still fine. The dealer quoted me $479.00 for a water pump installation. I can get a water pump and anti-freeze for roughly $60.00 and it would take me 1/2 hour at most to do the job. I will investigate the Libby water pump tomorrow. Oh also, the mechanic said my 03 Liberty was one of the cleanest he seen. I refuse to pay the dealer's light bill for the month LOL.

While you're in there may as well do the thermostat ( MOPAR only ) and hoses as well that way everything is new
And yes HOAT only like ^^^^^^ mentioned above

Breakage is Nature's way of telling you to upgrade....
I'm a computer guy and it used to be that every time something broke I would be sad for about thirty seconds, then immediately start scheming to replace it with something much better. :icon_lol:
