I was recently given a 2wd drive 04 KJ sport in patriot blue. It has a blown motor, the windows wont stay up, ****** slips, the front bumper, grille, front passenger fender flare, and rear bumper are all destroyed, as well as a bad steering column (it starts with a screwdriver) the good news is that the frame is completely fine as well as the rear end. So I will rebuild it better, faster, stronger... the BIONIC KJ WILL LIVE!

Ouch. Lots of work. Pics?

BTW for your steering column issues it sounds like the actuator pin might have broke. Take a look at the replacement process here:

I will post pics of it as it sits soon and pics throughout the rebuild. Thanks a lot for the tip about the actuator pin. And yea its going to be a lot of work but worth it. Im doing it big. Fresh motor with performance mods (chip, cold air intake, etc.) 4x conversion, 2.5" lift kit, tires, ARB bumper and winch, the whole nine yards. My wife thinks i'm nuts but where else can I find a (nearly) new jeep with all those mods for what I'm paying? The jeep was free and I was a mechanic for the Army so I'm doing all the work. Besides it'll be fun watching my kids fight over who rides with dad in the jeep instead of the great white buffalo (my wife's Chrysler town and country)

WELCOME and Good luck with your build
First thing though do a little reading to save yourself a lot of money
For example
The chip and CAI is a total waste of $$$ on the 3.7
Computer will relearn around the chip and the stock air box with good paper filter does better than any CAI
From there check Home page for your lift needs
OME gives 2.5 inches of lift , while Ironman gives 2.25 , of course with extras you can lift to 3.5 -4 inches
For the 4X4 switchover you'll need a lot of parts from a wrecked one, not as easy as they were with say a XJ etc

Thanks for the help. I'd rather not waste money. I havent had a lot of time to read yet between working and taking care of my youngest kids but i definitely will make time now that you said that. Might do an ecu reflash/tune then instead of those and I was going to go with OME so that helped me decide. As for the parts for the 4x4 my friend has an 04 limited 4x4 he will give me bc a tree fell on it and crushed the roof in so i'm really lucky.
